Fiat Grande Punto Drivers Door Lock Mechanism

Hello im thinking off adding an amp to my door speakers has any one done this to gp if so help would be very good thanksyou are much more likely to get a better response in the ICE section mate. However this is not difficult but does require that you dont overpower the speakers.

Fitting the wiring is not that hard as you can follow existing wiring circuits within the car. By no means a complete answer but you will get an answer in the ICE sectionYoud be better served changing the speakers as well its not impossible to amp the existing speakers but theyre such a low wRMS rating that it wouldnt be worth it and youd likely end up killing them anyway.

The only issue I found was routing the wiring involved drilling holes in the plugs between the body and the door for the additional wiring. It was either that or drill holes in the metal of the doorbodythanks for the advice i have uprated speakers and got an amp to match them so think will be all good there wont be playing them up full anyways just want them to beable to keep up with the sub and will be a bit of fun to install ill try find the ice sectionyeah i had mine next to each other with my sub got nothing can allways get a ground loop got random rattles from door when bassy raido 1 voices any idear how to stop it i padded the between the doors and tirm any one got any idear of the watt of standard door speakers. Ive done a search but didnt have much luck on finding information on taking off the door handles anyone done this beforeim guessing its quite a fragile job not meant to be taken on by amatures (aka me).First remove the door interior panel and ensure the window is fully raised Working inside the door Undo the handle retaining nuts X3 Disconnect the keylock barrel connecting rod from the key lock barrel side.

Disconnect the handlelock connecting rod from the lock side. Working on the outside of the door Remove the handle complete with handlelock connecting rod. Be careful not to scratch the paintwork and watch out for sharp edges inside the door jibbon thanked for this postyour like a fountain of knowladgethanks m8No prob m8 good luck with it.

Hi i am new to this forum and hoping Im posting in right section I have a 06 reg grande punto and the back door wont open it used to open but always been difficult to open and now it wont open at all. Any ideas how to fix it its due an mot soon and think it will fail if I cant open door read something about replacing them with modified handles if this is true does anyone know where to get them from and if it will actually solve the problem thanks for your help cursore thanked for this postThe short answer is its a poor design which fiat have not sorted out or acknowledged to date (January 2012). The whole setup is quite complex (its looks like fiat didnt go cheap here) and works on the handle being lifted which pushes down on a lever which in turn pulls on a short cable connecting the handle to the latch mechanism. This in turn moves more parts inside the latch. Everything except thefiat grande punto 2006 model.

Rear door hard to open from outside. As it turns out fiat have modified the rear door handle for the outside. Its looks near identical but the lever angles have changed slightly.

I purchased one brand new (it had a superseded part number) and fitting it the door handled worked as good if not even better than the fronts. Problem solved but it was at my expense including painting. This is the cure. After just getting my GP back on the road after engine management problems (fixed under warrenty) yesterday today when I pull up at home I couldnt get out (someone had to open the door from the outside) then when going to close it.it wouldnt It just bounces back Ive had a good look as has my dad and cant see whats wrong weve had to tie the door shut with string attached to the driver seat runner.

Has anyone else had this problemthe Panda launched before it and Bravo launched after it seem to be trouble free (save for a few rogue Pandas). Such a shame coz its a gorgeous looking car but as im looking to change my punto JTD at the moment i think i actually feel safer putting my money in a Stilo. And theres alot of people who would say thats saying something. Also orange puntos car is a 2007 - isnt 2 years long enough for fiatOriginally Posted by orange puntoboy Maybe I should have bought the Panda Liam (wouldnt say no to 100hp).

Have spoken to fiat garage today they suggested having another go with the door and ring them back tomorrow. If I can get it to close theyll replace the lock on wednesday. I spoke to fiat directly today aswell they were very pleasant (as were garage LC Motors Newport who have been fab to deal with). Hi All I was wondering what is the function of the black rubber flappy thing under the front bumper bar.

Mine somehow got ripped off and was dangling by the last 2 staples holding it up. Does it have any function i.e.

The right side of my dash board trim is sticking up again common according to posts here.

When I drive over slow bumps I hear a suspension knock on the left front. Drivers door creeks and makes loose noises over bumps.

Boot light was broken when I got it. Have super glued the lens back togther and put it back in But expect a replacement. Front right hand bumper sticks out.

You can see a gap down behind the bumper from the top. These are all pretty dismal issues for me. Ive come from driving a Peugeot 405. It has been more off the road than on it and I dont mean dirt roads.

This is how it looks at the moment Although the wheels are looking more like this these days Shes going to NY for five days in a couple of weeks and in that time i want to transform the car.

Firstly going to get the car wrapped in pearl white vinyl. I think the dash board will followThey are wider the front one should go on ok but you would also need the arch trims but then not sure how they would finish at the bottom against your sporting side skirts. The rear lights would need some DIY butchary as the Evo lamps are LED (sidelights) and so need a resistor httpwww.

Hi I have had my 5dr 07 grande punto Eleganza in to the dealer twice now as the rear doors are all but impossible to open. Each time dealer say fixed they even claim to have replaced handles etc but they are not my 11 yr old daughter is unable to open either rear door and my wife and I find them extremely difficult the handles just stick all the time. I asked the tech guy to look at a 09 5 dr in showroomhttpwww.

Fiatforum.com grande-punt.lt-issues.htmlI have the same car as you. I didnt even notice my handles were bad until a service tech opened the rear doors and told me. I said another dealer had lubed everything up.

He said that dosnt fix it and what they needed to do was shave some metal of some component inside the handle or something. It worked any hows. Hi everyone Got a problem opening the rear doors Just got a second hand punto grande (06). Its sat still for a few weeks and my Wife drove it last she had a couple of problems too but now nothing seems to open the doors. They click etc on the central locking but i cant open them from inside or out.

Any help or advice would be great. MarkI once sold a punto to a obviously very effeminate young man and his boyfriend. After a couple of weeks he came back complaining that his back door was a bit sticky. Decided today to tackle the rear door handles. From looking at my car I feel the problem can be threefold (1) The gap between the handle and the lever that holds the wire to the lock (2) The length of the wire from the lock to the lever (3) The amount of flex in the door handle itself.

Certainly in my case both doors had a huge gap between the handle and the lever. On one side a real bodge had beenHi I bought my first grande punto 06 plate Saturday just gone I have the problem which has already been established above where my back two doors dont open unless I really make a struggle and pull them from the rear corner closest to the boot. Im only 17 and need help on how to fix the doors easiest way possible with saving as much money as possible Any help available guys CheersIve had a similar issue with the NS rear door handle when I bought the car last November. I know it needs doing but havent got round to it yet as I dont use the rear door to get in and out. Its good to see the issue illustrated and explained however many thanks OP. HumourI never suggested that doing any mod to the handle changes the length of the cable I had to shorten the cable about 3mm to get it to work obviously in the case of one of my doors a modified handle would not have been the panacea to cure all ills you could lift the handle all you like but if the stroke of the lift is not enough to release the catch the only solution in my view is to shorten the cable. Hey people I have been having alot of issues with my 2 rear doors recently It was an exsisting problem when I bought the car that the 2 rear passenger doors were a bit sticky.

I overlooked it and now im starting to get a bit fed up of it. They are very tempermental Its almost as if the catch on the door is faulty and doesnt connect that well with the locking mechanism. You have to push on the doorQuick question to the OP.

How do you think a rear door opens Do you think the mechanismmethod is nearly exactly the same You were pointed to the common problems as the fix there will more than less likely work for the rear doors as well if the cables are slack from the outside. Internal lever I would expect uses a different cable to perform the same job or latches on to the same cable in a different way.Originally Posted by TallTom Quick question to the OP.

Any ideas I have a rattle in my 1.9 Sporting which I would describe in the same way (squeaky rattle only over bumps). However no rear doors on my car. Maybe it is the rear seat or suspension.

Any ideasThis might help - http fiatforum.com grande- punto-te.-creaking.html. Hi i amputting my punto 06 plate in next week to get brakes done- and since we got car last year the rear doors can only be opened by holding the rear end of the handle and lifting upwards- got to have the knack to open it.

Anyway this isnt covered by warranty as my car is 06 plate or is it also how much will it cost to fix as if its too pricey im sure i can live with itMine were really sticky I didnt notice it until a service tech opened the rear door and said so He said its a common problem and that it needed fixing. And they did it. Im sorry if this has been covered. I am sure it probably has but im strugglign finding a fix when i got my car 1.2 8v GP (second hand) 2.5 years ago my rear door handles didnt work every now and again. I got them fixed under warranty and they worked evey time.sorted NOW.the Drivers side rear Outside door handle only opens the door 1 in ten times.

Ive always found the offside one to be a bit sticky but as I rarely open that door it hasnt been an issue. More recently though it has gotten worse and it takes a bit of jiggling to get the door to open.I have this problem pulling the read door handles from the part nearest the front doors wont open them however pulling from the end nearest the rear of the car they open everytime. And buying a 3- door is never the answer More- door all the way. Hi all recently my car faild an mot because the passenger rear door would not open.

Has this happend to anyone else does anyone know how to take the door card off to have a look any help appreciatedFirst off same name as me - awesome Secondly my partners 07 plate has a similar issue when opening the door from the outside. If you push it as if its not fully shut and try again it usually opens and I think it always opens if tried from the inside. Im guessing its (the mot check) a safety thing so that rear-seat passengers can get out in the event of a fire. Again though any help in resolving this issue - at least its something else I can cross off my to do listIf its just sticking from the outside its a known fault httpwww. Fiatforum.com grande-punt.lt-issues.html Dealer can fix it. Rear door handles on a 56 plate GP wont open from the outside.
