I am trying desperately to change the password code on my XL4600SM. I have the user manual for the XL2 box where the system is mounted (I downloaded this from the internet), but the manual doesn't seem to address a change of password. It talks about 'User' codes, but not how to change the code. My last code has been removed somehow, so I want a new code.
I cancelled my monitoring company some years ago, so there's no help there. Any suggestions on exactly how to change the code if the former code isn't there anymore?thanks. If you have somehow lost or changed your master code (User code 1), then this somewhat complicates things.You can try the following:CODE Key +. + 2468 + 1Then press 7 + 9 at the same timeIf the system does a restart, then the master/User 1 code will be reset to 1234 and you can use the user manual instructions from that point.If this doesn't work then things are much more complicated, because if you don't have the installer code (2468 is the factory default). The only real option after than is a full default of the system, but there is a huge risk, because there are features on these systems that can only be accessed with the download software, including a very tough installer lockout.
That solution you suggested above did not work for me. When I did what you said the alarm started going off and would not quit until I finally just went and unplugged it again. Here is my situation: Ibought a house from a guy who had no clue as to what the user code was. So the whole time he was there he just left the thing unplugged. I plug it up to try the override solution you suggested and at first the system does nothing. I push the buttons and nothing happens.
After a couple minutes, the system starts to go off by itself andthen I put in the codes you suggested. But they do not do anything and the system just keeps going.

Is there any other way to change or reset the password so that I can avoid having to hire someone to do it?
